Imagine a clock that knits a scarf for you over the course of a year. Siren Elise Wilhelmson did just that. Her 365 Knitting Clock knits 48 meshes per day, eventually producing a 2 meter long (6.5 foot) scarf. So many visual representations of time focus on what is lost, but Wilhelm’s clock instead invites us to perceive time as a tool of creation. Her project is like a reverse of this calendar, which I owned in 2011, that uses yarn to subtractively represent the passing of time.
